Henry John "Harry" Patch
17 June 1898 – 25 July 2009

Died at age 111
The last man to fight in the trenches of WWI.

He never spoke of what he’d seen until 2008….

Then he spoke:

"It wasn't worth it. If two governments can't agree, give them a rifle each and let 'em fight it out. Don't lose 20,000 - it isn't worth it... they never learn; they had two World Wars... the Third World War will be chemical; I don't want to see it"

Will we ever learn from history or will it just die as those who witness it do?

True history is not written in text books
